A statuesque Australian model who is pursuing a university degree to become a speech therapist won the 3rd Miss Global Pageant, besting 47 other delegates worldwide in coronation rites held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila in Pasay City past midnight last Friday.
Jessica Peart, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-11 model who is a Speech Pathology & Therapy student of Deakin University in Melbourne, was crowned as Miss Global 2015 by Miss Global Philippines and Miss Global 2nd runner-up 2014 Catherine Almirante who performed the rites on behalf of Canada’s Ela Mino, last year’s winner, who was unable to attend the event.
Peart topped the field of five finalists that included Cambodia’s Virginia Prak, 1st runner-up; Ireland’s Lorna Murphy, 2nd runner-up; Bulgaria’s Gergana Doncheva, 3rd runner-up and the Philippines’ Mary Candice Ramos, 4th runner-up.
During the final interview round, Jessica was asked: “What is the biggest challenge of being a beauty queen and why?” She replied: “I’d like to say that there are many challenges of being a beauty queen. The challenge for me has been seeing so much hardships and trials while participating in charity work, to see so many people struggling in life, and so many people joining in the task. But the most positive thing is being able to contribute to changing the lives of those who aren’t having the best times.”
Peart was a finalist at the 2015 Miss Universe Australia Charity Queen contest and has worked part time in a local nursing home for three years. She has organized charity events and projects to raise funds to provide age-appropriate facilities for young people who are forced to live in nursing or retirement homes. Her efforts contributed to the development of a new day center that was built in Bendigo, Victoria.
Hosted by Brian Corsetti and Venus Raj, the international pageant was produced by PSL Entertainment Productions and will be aired on IBC13 on Sunday, November 1.
