FORTY beauty delegates from all over the globe will take part in Miss Asia Pacific International 2016 – the revival of Asia’s first international beauty pageant. After a hiatus of more than a decade, the pageant was re-launched, intending to promote the Philippines as a premier tourism destination in Asia and further compliments the government’s program to enhance tourism and its relations with all the participating countries.
“I think what I will enjoy most during the pageant period is getting to know the ladies and their culture. This pageant is not only having a beautiful body and face but also having an amazing heart and graceful mind,” says RP representative, and reigning Mutya ng Pilipinas Ganiel Akrisha Atun Krishnan, a Filipino-Indian sportscaster and Mass Communications student from Far Eastern University, during the press presentation of the delegates yesterday at Casino Filipino Pavilion in Ermita, Manila.
The contestants are: Madeleine Stock (Australia), Lamiya Hoque (Bangladesh), Polli Cannabis (Belarus), Katherine Caceres (Bolivia), Natalie Carriere (Canada), Zhao Le (China), Jose Stephanie Fernandez Peñaranda (Colombia), Felicia George (Cook Islands), Aysel Khaled (Egypt), Pauline Leullieux (France), Mona Schafnitzl (Germany), Audre Lagania de la Cruz (Guam), Qi Kong (Hong Kong), Shiva Srishti Vyakaranam (India), An Nisaa Meidina (Indonesia), Farah Al Haddad (Iraq), Natsuki Suzuki (Japan), Soyeon Kim (Korea), Mony Zreik (Lebanon), Xunyuan Zhang (Macau), Rishon Shun (Malaysia), Uyanga Amarmend (Mongolia), Nan Hlaing Hlaing Moe (Myanmar), Anshu KC (Nepal), Tessa Helena Le Conge (Netherlands), Mondy Laigle (New Caledonia), Amalina Bunyasakdi (New Zealand), Madeeha Naseer (Pakistan), Ana Lucia Leiva Pereyro (Peru), Ganiel Akrisha Atun Krishnan (Philippines), Tatiana Tsimfer (Russia), Maria Platanova (Siberia), Ariel Bi Jiao Xu (Singapore), Achol Arow (South Sudan), Mei Hsuan Lai (Taiwan), Chawanya Thanomwong (Thailand), Sofia Ku Konesku (Ukraine), Kristian Navarre (USA), Hoang Thai Thao (Vietnam) and Nay Chi Lin (Yangon).
Three candidates were named as Darling of the Press winners namely: Nay Chi Lin of Yangon, winner; Natalie Carriere of Canada, second; and Achol Arow of South Sudan, third.
Miss Asia Pacific 2016 kicked-off with a charity undertaking at My Father’s House in Las Piñas City last November 16.
The national costume parade was held last night, also at Casino Filipino Pavilion while the talent competition will be held tonight at House Manila in Remington Hotel in Pasay City.
The grand coronation night happens at Sheridan Beach Resort & Spa in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on November 23 to be aired by Star World on delayed telecast.
