Cebuana leads “Jewel of the Philippines” winners

A BS Accounting Technology graduate from Cebu City won the inaugural Jewel of the Philippines Pageant, besting 22 other contestants at the grand finals held at Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig City Wednesday night.


Natasha Angela Lim Manuel, 21, a graduate of University of San Carlos, was crowned as the very first Jewel of the Philippines who will represent the country at the maiden Jewel of the World Pageant which will be launched and staged in Manila in February next year.
Crowned as Miss Globe International-Philippines 2016 was Inna Patricia Liwanag Gita, 20, from Malolos, Bulacan. A 4th year Mass Communications student of Bulacan State University, 5-foot-8 Gita will vie for the Miss Globe International in Istanbul, Turkey next year.
A crowd favorite, Gita won the Best in Swimsuit award in addition to 3 other sponsor awards.
The Miss United Continents-Philippines 2016 title went to Romellean Joy Duro Pontino, 19, an Information Technology graduate from Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya.
Standing 5’7”, Pontino will compete for Miss United Continents in Quito, Ecuador next year. She also won the Best in Long Gown award.
Chosen as Miss World Peace-Philippines 2016 was Gladys Louise Matus Santos, 20, from Valenzuela City. A BS Hotel Management graduate of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (she was Miss PUP 2015), Santos will vie for Miss World Peace in China next year.
The Miss Charity Queen International-Philippines 2016 title went to Cindy Bisperas de Vera, 23, a BS Architecture graduate from Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. She will represent the country at the Miss Charity Queen International tilt in Taiwan later this year.
The pageant, founded and directed by John de la Vega and which aims to produce “beauty queen-advocates of social change and nation-building”, was hosted by Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2000 Nina Ricci Alagao, Miss Earth 2008 Karla Henry and Miss Intercontinental 2014 2nd runner-up Kris Janson. The panel of judges included, among others, Miss Grand International 2013 3rd runner-up Ali Forbes and Mister International Netherlands 2015 Cas Winters.
