VIVA Communications Inc., headed by its founder and CEO Vicente “Vic” del Rosario Jr. announced last Tuesday its partnership with Cory Quirino Global Quest (CQGQ), the organization headed by socialite, wellness guru and philanthropist Cory Quirino that stages the annual search for the Philippines’ delegate to Miss World.
In a press conference held at the Viva Communications offices at Tektite Tower in Pasig City, Del Rosario and Quirino happily announced the new partnership that they hope will propel the beauty pageant to new heights, especially the winners during and after their reigns.
Now on its sixth year, Miss World Philippines has successfully produced the first Filipina Miss World in 2013 when Megan Young bested 126 contestants worldwide at the 63rd pageant held in Bali, Indonesia.

Aside from Megan, CQGQ prides itself in its roster of Miss World alumni: Gwendoline Ruais, Miss World 2011 1st runner-up; Queenirich Rehman, Miss World 2012 top 8 and Miss Talent 1st runner-up; Valerie Weigmann, Miss World 2014 top 25; and Hillarie Parungao, Miss World 2015 top 6 and Social Media winner.
“We have finally captured the Miss World crown, thanks to Megan Young, but we are also aiming to win the essence of Miss World which is “Beauty with a Purpose”, Ms. Quirino said. “Beauty with a Purpose” is that part of the Miss World competition where the delegates foray their advocacy to help the underprivileged in their countries.
“We at Viva Communications are very happy for this new partnership with Miss World Philippines. We also stage other pageants like Miss Manila and Mutya ng Pilipinas but these are local contests. Miss World is the longest-running global competition,” Del Rosario said.
According to Del Rosario, Viva is looking forward to tap the potentials of Miss World Philippines beauties in acting, singing, or modeling not unlike WME/IMG, the talent management outfit in the US that has bought the Miss Universe Pageant from Donald Trump last year.
Also present during the event were the Miss World Philippines 2015 winners namely: Miss World Philippines Hillarie Parungao, 1st Princess Cassandra Naidas, 2nd Princess Mia Howell and 3rd Princess Vanessa Wright.
Miss World 2016 will be held in August or September “depending on when the Miss World 2016 finals will be held” according to Ms. Quirino. “And we will know that in the next few days.”
